Play ForeCell Online

ForeCell keeps the familiar open-table feel of FreeCell, then changes one rule that matters all afternoon: an empty tableau column is not a spare shelf for any card. Only a King can move into that space. That single restriction makes early clearing moves less automatic and gives the game a sharper edge without making the board hard to read.

The foundations still build from Ace to King by suit, and tableau cards still build down by alternating color. The difference is in timing. If you open a column before a useful King is ready, you may have spent your best table space too soon.

What Changes From FreeCell

You get 8 tableau columns and 4 holding cells. All cards are face up, so ForeCell is still a planning game rather than a guessing game. The tighter empty-column rule changes the value of Kings. A King is not just another large card; it is the key that turns a blank column back into useful workspace.

ForeCell looks close to FreeCell, but empty tableau columns are reserved for Kings.

Core Rules

Move one card or a legal stack onto the next higher rank of the opposite color. A red 7 can land on a black 8, for example. Foundations accept Aces first, then climb by suit. Free cells hold one card each.

The King Rule

In regular FreeCell, an empty column can often rescue a tangled board. In ForeCell, that column waits for a King. Try to free Kings with purpose, not by accident, because the board can stall when every King is trapped under smaller cards.

Do Not Empty a Column Too Early

Before clearing the last card from a column, check the Kings. If none of them can move, the empty space may sit unused while your free cells fill up. A stronger line is to uncover a King first, then clear a column when that King can immediately organize a descending run beneath it.

This is the habit that separates ForeCell from Three Cells. Three Cells reduces storage; ForeCell reduces where that storage can be rebuilt on the table. Both, and 4 more, are laid out in the FreeCell variants guide.

A blank column is strongest when a King can use it right away.

Certified ForeCell Deals

ForeCell deals on this page come from a replay-checked pool. The engine verifies every certified seed before it is used for public play, and leaderboard submissions replay on the server before they can rank. You can still use hints and undo while learning; clean ranked results stay tied to unassisted certified wins.

The move checker confirms whether the current certified ForeCell deal still has a winning line.
